I really wanted to write what I think is a realistic conversation that could have occurred between Carol and Daryl about Merle. I think Carol knew not to ask him too much about it in the beginning, knowing that Daryl's the kind of person who needs time to process something before talking about it. So that's the reasoning behind this.
