So I somehow accidentally double posted a chapter to my latest story. I clicked on what I THOUGHT was deleting the chapter, and apparently I deleted the WHOLE STORY!! Agh. Goes with my week. Sewage backed up into our house too.

Sometimes I comment on an old story and then I see, too late, that I was the last previous comment also, maybe a year or more previously. But I still do it because... I reckon, if they check, it still might be nice to know that people don't just read, they re-read.

pearlseed, no author, anywhere, of any story, was ever like "why did they leave me a message telling me they enjoyed that?" They're just happy. Leave the comment. People not commenting on stories, old and new, is a big reason people get bummed and don't write.

Sometimes I wonder about commenting on the older stories, but if I enjoy them I want to tell the writer becos it's hard work and it's appreciated.

youremykindoftrouble: Write anything BUT your story. I find that the story runs away from you the longer you grab at it. Leave it alone, write something else, no matter how inane, and just let the ideas come for your initial story.

I agree with Rose. Talk it out. Free write. Let yourself write the most inane dribble. Write your thoughts about not being able to write what you want. Know that it happens to all of us. Just keep writing. Eventually something coherent will come out.

Sprints, prompts, finding someone to boss you around and strong-arm you into writing...those are my three best suggestions. Also, maybe just finding someone to chat about your ideas with so that you can get some motivation churning could help.

OK people can I please have some tips for beating writers block... I turned my laptop on, wrote about 8 words, and then did literally everything I could think of except write! My house is spotless and I've planted more vegetables than I'll ever eat but I just can't write >:(

What keeps the writers from being able to see that a pair story can be just as hot as slow burn IF they get their manly heads outta wherever?? and write some of the exceptional stuff like what I've seen here. I feel like they should be fined when they torture Carol.
