This is a response to a prompt by shanik where Daryl and Carol find themselves in a world without walkers and all their friends are acting weird. Because my muse thinks he's funny, I've taken a bit of liberty with this prompt and decided to have only Daryl having to deal with a McReedus world. So expect Daryl/Melissa interaction. The backstory I cooked up for Daryl is based on him taking a bag full of jewelry and money from the country club in the episode "Still". There really wasn't a reason for him to take it that I could see, which gave me the idea that he might have been a thief or the very least a kleptomaniac before the Turn.
