Like most of us, I'm sure, I rewatched the Caryl scene at the start of 11x14 again and again; but what caught my attention every time was not Daryl's exit line, but the tone of his voice when he said "home", asking Carol whether she'd had any news of it. NR played it beautifully, and poignantly, that one short line. So I started there, and my mind spun off somewhere else.

I'm not sure what this is - a character study, definitely an indulgence. I loved writing it, wrote it in a frenzy on a day when I had not planned to write at all, but it's likely less thrilling to read than it was to write, for many reasons. So if you make it through, thank you. And please let me know what you thought of it.
