Chapters tell an extended single story; a series is usually connected stories that can be read as stand-alones. I forget who wrote the Farm stories here, but that could have been published as a series.

I've never written a series @eyeslikewildflowers but I think the difference is a story (one shot or multi) versus two or more stories in the same universe or on a theme.

Question for all of you wonderful people! I still don't really understand the difference between a series and a story with chapters... I'm in the middle of writing a bunch of one chapter McReedus drabbles. Would they be better as a series or as individual, unrelated chapters in one story? Thanks all

@Yokai ... use the beta profile. that's why it's there. it won't feel forced. look them over to see what kind of beta you need, what your fic needs, and then message the one who seems to fit you best. those on the list wouldn't have made a profile if they didn't want to help.
